Kingussie (the name comes from the Gaelic: Ceann-รก-Ghuibhsaich meaning at the head of the pine wood) and capital of Badenoch, is a peaceful and attractive highland village in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park. It is surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery with spectacular views of the Cairngorms and Monadhliath Mountain ranges. The hugely popular television series "Monarch of the Glen" was filmed entirely in the Badenoch and Strathspey area and Calum's Cottage was a favourite residence for the Production Company.
It is only a 5 minute walk from the Cottage to the heart of the village where you will find a selection of bars, coffee shops, cafe's and hotels all serving delicious Highland fare. There is an exceptional range of shops including a supermarket, delicatessen, award winning butcher, chemist and newsagent plus interesting gift and art shops for browsing.
Kingussie is just off the A9; 2 hours drive from Edinburgh and Glasgow; 40 minutes from Inverness and 15 minutes from Aviemore. The train station, the main London-Inverness line, is a 10 minute walk from the Cottage. |
